Listening to students and developing their leadership skills is very important at SMRT. We have a strong student leadership system that starts with tutor representatives. These feed into house council meetings which take place every fortnight. 

Once a month, there is a whole school council meeting in which two or three representatives from each house council meet together to propose ideas that will positively impact the whole school community.   

All meetings are chaired by students to further develop their leadership experience with a staff member present to help collate their ideas. 

There are other forums for student leadership across the school, including an active eco-council, lead students and various committees. These meet regularly to plan events, fundraise and impact change through a variety of ways. They also take on leadership roles across the school from supporting younger students through to running clubs. 

As a church school we also work to develop the spiritual leadership qualities of our students and encourage them to lead worship in their houses, at house Eucharist services and also at whole school services. We have a worship committee who provide feedback and suggest ideas for collective worship across the school.
