We Can Review 2

Weekly Worship from Chaplain Eric.

Last week we looked at reviewing the word faith. This week, we’ll look at reviewing something each of us have a relationship with in one way or another; music. Whether we listen to music, hear it being played by others, or compose music ourselves, music is an important part of human existence. In the bible, the Psalms are a collection of 150 songs and poems that have encouraged countless people who have read them since they were written.

Music is able to express feelings, thoughts and experiences in ways that a normal conversation wouldn’t be able to get across. For two minutes, discuss with the person next to you what your favourite song is and why.

Just like everything in human history, music has changed a lot over time, as the video below shows.

The bible tells us that God rejoices over us with joyful songs (Zephaniah 3:17). So the next time you think about music, remember that even God expresses his feelings for us through songs.

Dear Lord,
We thank you for the gift of music and all it expresses. Our pain, joy, sorrow, hopes and fears. Help us to be grateful for this gift, whether we consume or compose music. Amen
