Student Leadership Team

Listening to students and developing their leadership skills is important at SMRT. We have a strong student leadership system that starts with tutor representatives. These feed into Year Council meetings which take place at least once a term.

At least once a term, there is a whole Student Council meeting with representatives from each Year council meeting together to propose ideas that will positively impact the whole school community and review progress. At least once a term there is also a Tutor Group meeting. All meetings have elements of student leadership to further develop their leadership experience with a staff member present to help collate their ideas/facilitate.

There are other forums for student leadership across the school, including an active eco-council, lead students and various committees. These are called Action Groups. These meet regularly to plan events, fundraise and impact change in a variety of ways. They also take on leadership roles across the school, from supporting younger students through to running clubs.

As a church school, we also develop the spiritual leadership qualities of our students and encourage them to lead worship in their Houses, at House Eucharist services and at whole school services. We have a worship committee who provide feedback and suggest ideas for collective worship across the school.
