Could you add any more languages to the one in the film?

Over the next 2 weeks we will be talking about Pentecost, this was when Christianity became a global religion – with lots of different languages. Whenever I think about different languages and cultures – I think about food!

If you could eat your favourite meal with your favourite people, what would you eat and who would you invite?

Perhaps you would invite your friends, or the most popular people you know! People who are like you and people who make you feel comfortable.

Jesus invites EVERYONE to his table – we are all welcome. You are welcome. That means that we need to show that we are welcoming towards each other.

The Bible says in the book of Romans,

Christ accepted you, so you should accept each other, which will bring glory to God.

Our challenge is to show that we are welcoming to those we would normally not be around. This can be uncomfortable. Over the next few weeks, try and put this into action:

  • Talk to someone you would normally avoid
  • Smile more
  • Invite a new person into your friendship group
  • Listen to others more than you speak

Prayer

Dear Lord, thank you that we are all welcomed and loved by you.  Thank you that you want to be our friend and you do not expect perfect people.  Help us to be more like you and be kind to those who are different to us. Amen
