This week, we move onto our next ALIVE Value – Trust and Truth.

Do you value trust and truth?

To start our reflection, I want us to consider believing truths about ourselves.

Our world is full of both truth and lies, it’s hard to know the difference sometimes. We often believe things about ourselves and others that aren’t true. We are often sold lies, for example… ‘you’re not good/pretty/cool enough until you buy this.’ So many companies (fashion, food, health, travel etc.) often lie to us so that we buy into what they’re selling.

We also often hear lies, either online or in person, and believe them to be true. People will say things to us, call us names and give us labels. This is often because either they don’t know the truth about who we are, or they choose to ignore it.

So many of us do not know truly who we are. We don’t know what to believe about ourselves.

For this Weekly Worship, I want to affirm some truth about who we are. I hope that this is helpful for you to learn what is true about who you are.

Take time to read these incredible statements below. Pick one or two (or more) phrases that you need to hear today. Read the bible verses that go with that phrase and spend a moment reminding yourself of the truth of who you are.

I am loved (Romans 8:38, Isaiah 43:4)

I am remarkably made (Psalm 139:14, Psalm 139:1-24, Genesis 1:27)

I am extraordinary (Ephesians 2:10, Genesis 1:27)

I am valuable (1 Peter 1:18-19, John 3:16, Matthew 6:26)

Let’s pray,

God, I thank you that what you say is truth. There are no lies in you. Your truth releases light into darkness, exposing the lies I believe about my world and who I am.

Show me the thoughts that keep me from who you called me to be. Let your truth divide and separate the thoughts that are true of me and the thoughts that are lies about me. Help me to grasp the greater identity. I want to be who You say that I am! I am your workmanship. I am Your very handiwork. You formed and created me.
