Welcome back to school for Term 5! I hope you’ve all had a great Easter break.

This week, our ALIVE Value is ‘We are Interdependent.’

We are interdependent people, who live in communities, with great friendships and amongst many crowds. But sometimes, we need to be independent and stand up on our own, against the crowd. 

During our Start of Term Service this week, Mrs Duzniak will be talking to us about bravery and boldness in standing up for what is right, even when the majority (a crowd) don’t act that same way.

When we live with this boldness, we bring light to our world. The Bible talks about living this way:

Salt and Light
13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.

14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Sprinkle us across our town, God, 
across our world, 
to bring the flavour of your Kingdom of goodness and justice wherever we go. 

"You are the light of the world." 
Uncover the radiance that is within us, God, 
to shine the truth of your love, wherever we go. 

"Let your light shine before others" 
that everyone we meet may see our lives of worship and glorify you, 
our Father in heaven. Amen.
