We Value Diversity and Choice 1

Weekly Worship from Mrs Duzniak

Our ALIVE value this week is, ‘We Value Diversity and Choice’. But what does that look like? Is it just a warm fuzzy feeling or is it something that you can see and do practically? Discuss in small groups and list 3 practical ways that you can show how you value diversity and choice with your actions?

Now watch this video, it is a parable that Jesus told with some examples of how you can value diversity and choice, as you watch it – add to your list of actions:

What is on your list of actions, here are some to get you started:

  • including everyone in your groups.
  • showing kindness to all, even if they are a different.
  • treating others how you would want to be treated yourself.
  • going the extra mile to help others

Jesus said,

‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’  This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbour as much as you love yourself.’  Matthew 22:37-40

Reflection

Who will you show kindness to today?

Who do you find it hard to be nice to?  Perhaps because they are different to you?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you that we are all different, unique and precious. Thank you that we all have different strengths that we can bring to our community. Thank you that we can celebrate all of our differences. Please help us when sometimes we might find it hard to appreciate some of the differences we see in others. Help us to remember that it is our diversity that is our biggest strength. Guide us in ways to bring out the best in others and help us to bring out the best in ourselves. Amen
