Sequencing, Setting and Support

Key Stage 4 has 4 areas to study in – Engineering, Textiles, Product Design and Food. Each area starts with a skills project to assess the previous level of learning. Different projects are taught during year 10 to build skill level and design process. Year 11 concentrates on the NEA and revision for exam. It is a 50:50 ratio.

Key Stage 4 are mixed ability groups.  All students cover the same technical principles but the level of expectation or mark boundary is assessed accordingly.

At Key Stage 4 the level of expectation or mark boundary is assessed according to target grades.  There are varying levels of expectation. More personalised according to passport.

Homework and how Parents/Carers Support Learning

All homework is set on Bromcom which is an app and website available to students and parents/carers. Further information is available on our Homework page.

These are the principles which underpin our homework.

Key Stage 4 students have research and evaluation work set for homework.

At all key stages, it is important to support students to meet deadlines. This is a skill that is required for GCSE to prevent being overworked and overwhelmed and demonstrates that they are able to manage their time appropriately.
